Does Stripe work in Zambia?

No. Stripe does not support businesses registered in Zambia, and this has been settled background knowledge in both archived communities for the entire 2023–2026 period. It is the single biggest reason “which payment gateway should I use?” is the most-asked question in the archive: the default answer the rest of the world uses is not available here.

What people do instead

Reported across the archives, in rough order of how often each comes up:

1. A local gateway for domestic payments. If your customers are in Zambia, Stripe was never the answer anyway — start with choosing a payment gateway.
2. A merchant of record. A foreign company that sells to your customers on your behalf, handles their card processing and sales tax, and pays you out. Several people settled on this route for SaaS in 2026 — see receiving international payments.
3. A foreign-registered entity with Stripe attached. Discussed repeatedly as the “proper” fix for selling internationally: incorporate somewhere Stripe supports, then onboard there. The archive records the advice but not a single first-hand account of the cost or the paperwork.

Open questions

• Which merchant-of-record providers are Zambian SaaS sellers actually using in 2026, what do they charge, and how do payouts reach a Zambian account?
• Has anyone reading this actually incorporated abroad for Stripe access? What did it cost, all-in, per year? That report would be reported-grade gold.
