Why this exists

The same questions get asked in Zambian developer groups every few weeks, get answered from memory, and the answer scrolls away. “Which payment gateway should I use?” was asked over 30 separate times in three years in the Zambian Programmers WhatsApp group alone — and was still being asked on the last day of the archive.

Meanwhile the answers rot. A provider that worked in 2024 is down in 2025. A fee quoted once is repeated for two years after it changed. Someone pastes an AI answer about the wrong company entirely and nobody notices.

This wiki is an attempt to write those answers down once, in public, with dates on them.

Every repeated question was counted, every thread hand-read, and the answers distilled — without names, phone numbers or quotes. That is also why most pages start graded hearsay: the archive contains real operator knowledge and, verifiably, a hallucinated fee table or two.

How to read this wiki

Every factual page carries a verification stamp: when a human last checked the claim, and against what. We grade sources as primary (the provider’s own docs or support), reported (a contributor’s own first-hand experience), or hearsay (repeated in a group chat, never re-checked).

Treat hearsay as a lead, not a fact. Much of the seed content on this wiki entered as hearsay. Upgrading it is the single most useful thing you can do here. See how we verify claims.

What this wiki is not

  • Not legal or financial advice. Licensing and tax pages describe what practitioners report. They are not a substitute for a lawyer or the regulator’s own guidance.
  • Not a vendor directory. Providers and their staff are welcome to correct facts about their own products, with disclosure. Marketing copy gets reverted.
  • Not a support channel. If a provider’s API is down, this wiki can tell you whether that is normal. It cannot fix it.
